Block Printing - Block printing is one of the oldest methods of printing. It’s exciting to pull your print off your freshly inked block! Each student will receive 10 cards with envelopes.

Beginning students will choose an image from a selection chosen by the instructor. Some sample images are shown above. You will transfer the image onto the printing block. Using gouges, you will carve your image into the printing material. You will then ink your block and print the image onto greeting cards.

Intermediate students can choose their own image to transfer onto the 4” x 6” block. Bring a paper copy of your image to the workshop. It can be resized at Artsplace to fit the block. You will want to look for an image that can easily be interpreted in black and white and it should be rectangular in format. Keep in mind your image shouldn’t be too complex.
