Dry Felting Extravaganza - Wool has qualities that can be manipulated with felting needles into painterly works of Fiber Art. Learn the techniques of “painting with wool” in this workshop for both beginners and those with experience. Images will be provided or you may bring your own image for the instructor to help you plan your own unique project. Wool is the perfect, timeless medium to express a serious idea, create something whimsical, fantastical, or abstract, or depict a representational work of art. Bring a bag lunch. Tapestry Weaving - Students will learn the necessary introductory weaving skills required to create an abstract tapestry. The resulting art piece may be used to decorate your living space or turned into a purse, book cover or a wearable part of your wardrobe. You will learn to experiment with different materials including yarn, fabric, ribbon and natural materials on a tapestry loom. Animal Pillow Cover - Using projectors or light boxes, trace an image to easily make a hand painted pillow cover. You may select a choice of templates (cat, dog, fox, buffalo, ram, owls, rabbit, etc.) or provide your own design. We’ll supply the 18” square cotton zippered cover (pillow insert is not provided.) You will finish the pillow cover with Jacquard Dye-Na-Flow fabric paints, which are soft and pliable when dry, and markers. Bring a bag lunch. Instructor: Robin McCahill (1 day)
