Fiber Arts - Paint & Sculpt with Wool
Felted Earrings Workshop - Using special Merino wool, students will learn “wet-felting” techniques to create a pair of unique earrings. This technique involves rolling the wool in warm, soapy water. It is a gentle and comfortable technique allowing the wool fibers to interlock with dense material as a result. Yet, these earrings are extremely lightweight. You’ll choose from a colorful array of soft wool for your earrings to suit that “difficult to accessorize” outfit or for the season. Hypoallergenic pierced or clip-on posts provided. Come by yourself or with a group of friends! No experience necessary.Paint & Sculpt with Wool - Explore the magical medium of wool that is full of painterly qualities. The technique of needle felting enables you to build up textures and colors with colorful wool. Each session will include a short demo to get us warmed up and suggestions for paintings which may span more than one class. Students are encouraged to bring their own reference materials but may simply choose to work from the provided ideas. Any level of experience is welcome and encouraged. Weekly practice will include techniques such as wash, dry brush, wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry and why they might be used. Discussions of common problems and how to avoid or remedy them will also be covered. Weekly practice will include techniques such as wash, dry brush, wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry and why they might be used. Weekly practice will include techniques such as wash, dry brush, wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry and why they might be used.
