The Scarecrows are coming to Cheshire! Scarecrows can be displayed in a public space assigned by the event organizers or on your own personal or business property in Cheshire. Scarecrows should be constructed by the entrant using originality and creativity to impress the judges. Minimize use of premade materials. Suggested minimum height of scarecrows is 4 feet. Scarecrows in a public space are restricted to a maximum height of 10 feet and a maximum width of 4 feet. Those selecting to display in a public location will be notified of their assigned location on Monday, September 30 and notification will be made via email. Scarecrows can be installed beginning Wednesday, October 2 and kept in good condition through Sunday, October 27. Participants must email a photo of their scarecrow to recreation@cheshirect.org by Tuesday, October 8 to be judged and included in the slide show that will be available on the Cheshire Public Library’s website. An online map will be available for those who wish to explore the town and view all the scarecrows. Winners will be invited to a brief award ceremony during the Mixville Halloween Bash on Friday, October 25 at 5:15 p.m.

Voting for the Community Favorite Scarecrow is now open! Click here to access voting. Community members are encouraged to check back for the link to vote for your favorite scarecrow once per day through 8:00 a.m. on Monday, October 21.
