Therapeutic Camp

Save the date! Registration will open on March 1 for Cheshire residents and March 10 for non-residents. More details about the times for each week will be announced during the month leading up to registration.

TR Summer Camp provides a safe environment for children and teens with diverse abilities to enjoy a summer camp experience with a smaller camper:staff ratio and more staff support than is available at a traditional summer camp. It is designed to support children and teens in social and leisure skills as well as independence. Campers will experience a variety of activities such as daily swimming, simple crafts, board games, camp activities, songs and more. Staff will provide physical, behavioral and social support during activities as needed. Camp is held at Bartlem Park to add variety to the campers’ summers!

Campers can be bussed from the Cheshire Board of Education’s Summer Program to Bartlem Park; other campers should be dropped off at noon. Camp is outdoors in a park utilizing an open sided pavilion as the “home base”, games are played in an open field, campers have an opportunity to play on the nearby playground and will swim at the Cheshire Community Pool weather permitting. Campers will need to bring a bathing suit, towel, water shoes, sunscreen and lunch every day.

Campers must have no unsafe behaviors such as flight risk, aggression or inability to follow direction. They must also be able to toilet, dress and feed themselves.
