Beginner Drawing for Adults - This class is an opportunity to learn about drawing, observation and seeing the subject in both traditional and new ways. Different drawing concepts will be introduced and explored each week, including lines, scale, shading, texture and composition. Students will draw from a still life set-up. There will be plenty of guidance for each student from the instructor. Instructor: Mike Berlinski (5 weeks)
Drawing Drapery - This workshop welcomes artists of all skill levels to the expressive, forgiving qualities of charcoal through a drapery chiaroscuro (the treatment of light and shade in drawing and painting) study. Students will explore foundational techniques in sketching and shading to build their understanding of depth, lighting and proportion. In addition to traditional reductive work, students will have the option of tones paper and white charcoal to explore a different approach to these classic methods. Instructor: Sagan Anderson (1 day)
Drawing Immersion - This foundational art class is focused on transforming three-dimensional subjects into two-dimensional drawings through the precise study of light, shade, and volume. This course will emphasize observational techniques to help artists understand how light defines the shape, depth, and texture of objects. There will be a new study each class; whether or not a student completes the drawing will depend on their abilities. There is less emphasis on completing a project and more on learning a skill and how to use new knowledge and put it to action. Instructor: Janelle Chandler (5 weeks)
Life Drawing - Join Tony Falcone for a life drawing class with a French Bourbonnais Soldier! The model will wear a uniform designed by Mr. Falcone for a bronze statue. Students will draw the human form from the live model, using charcoal on paper. The instructor will demonstrate his process in capturing a likeness through line, composition and value. Students will be guided on how to see and sketch from life while exploring their own style and artistic approach. The goal will be to complete a final sketch. All levels welcome, all supplies included. Instructor: Tony Falcone (1 day)
Pen & Ink - Discover the expressive power and intricate detail of pen and ink. By the end of the workshop, you will have gained confidence in using the medium and completed a small drawing to practice new skills. Instructor: Janelle Chandler (1 day)
