Cartooning (Kids)
Cartooning Critters – Design your own original cartoon characters while learning basic drawing skills. Students will use simple shapes - circles, squares, triangles - to build creatures from the ground up. By using “exaggerated features,” students will learn how to give their characters unique personalities and bring their imaginative critters to life. Instructor: Megan Jeffery (5 days)
Cartooning – Jump into the world of character design and visual storytelling. Students will look at the techniques used by professional cartoonists to create everything from classic “Sunday funnies” to modern graphic novels. Through interactive, game-like exercises, they’ll design original characters and explore gag cartoons, multi-panel strips and the art of “pantomime.” Since great cartooning is a blend of art and writing, they’ll also dive into creative plotting and hand-lettering to give their stories a professional finish.
