After school Program for boys       Registration opens November 14th The Council for Boys and Young Men® is a strengths-based group approach for boys 9-18 to promote their safe and healthy development through pre-teen and adolescent years. Meets weekly on Wednesdays after-school  @ 4:00pm (transportation is not provided)  (Note: students can be dropped off at the Yellow House starting at 3:30pm and they can work on their homework, read a book, or just relax until the program begins. The program will begin when all the members have arrived.)   Winter 2026Curricula: "Growing Healthy, Growing Strong"  Boys will have fun identifying social-emotional messages, experiences, and attitudes. Competition, bullying, recognizing and expressing emotions, male and female role expectations, self confidence, and teamwork are highlighted through games and team challenges. Boys develop vocabulary and skills to expect and enact fairness, healthy competition, and respect for self and others. Spring 2026Curricula: "Standing Together: A Journey Into Respect Activity Guide"This guide provides engaging ways to address common themes which pre-teens and early adolescents encounter, including breaking down social-cultural barriers, motives and actions around put-downs, knowing their personal rights, defining assumptions about male power, respecting others'' physical boundaries, understanding and using the energy of strong emotions, and standing up for each other in community. Curricula: "Living A Legacy: A Rite of Passage Activity Guide"10-SESSION PROGRAM, Ages 14-18Young men gain skills and knowledge to navigate growing up male in today’s society through the introduction of topics and experiential activities that address a myriad of relevant challenges - safely, powerfully, and within a spirit of “council” connection. Boys will explore: relationships, conflict resolution, education, leadership, community service, diversity, mass media messages, personal values, integrity, and future goals.This FREE program is limited to 12 boys and will be held after-school at the Yellow House (554 South Main Street – Across from Cheshire High School). *Transportation is NOT provided from the schools to our facility.

Each afternoon will have a theme that members can participate in.  We’ll also have trivia & Pictionary days and other fun interactive group games.  Board games are a great way to improve social skills like communication, teamwork and confidence. If you are a youth in grades 7th - 11th during the 2025-2026 school year then we encourage you to become part of our Y.A.B. so your ideas can be heard and we can start planning fun activities and meaningful programs for your specific age groups this upcoming school year.  This is also a great way to earn community service & leadership hours!     Meetings are held monthly on the 3rd Monday starting September 15th @ 6:15 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.(exceptions Jan & Feb meetings will be the last Monday of the month)

Safe@Home by Safe Sitter® is a program designed for students in grades 4-6 to prepare them to be safe and care for themselves when their parents are away for short periods of time. This is an instructor facilitated program that teaches students how to practice safe habits, how to prevent unsafe situations, and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. Students are also introduced to the Safe Sitter® First Aid Chart and learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses. Safe@Home is ideal for students that have expressed interest in assuming the responsibility of staying home alone. The program is designed to prepare students for their first steps towards independence.  (Class Fee includes a student handbook & a gift bag). *This is not a babysitter certification course (you can register for that course through Recreation). Upcoming Courses:  Each of the upcoming courses covers the same material, please only sign up for one session.Small class sizes, 9 spots in each session. S.L.A.M.M. (Science - Literacy - Art - Math & More)        Grades: 1st-3rd Winter Session:Saturdays, Jan. 10th - Feb. 7th 12:15 p.m. -2:15 p.m.    Children will explore and learn through a variety of interactive experiences including listening to stories & music and creating daily crafts. Main St.)(group is limited to 20 kids)3rd-6th GradersBring your friends and make new ones while playing classic and newer edition board games. The Yellow House has a variety of games & puzzles available to play or members can bring their favorite game from home. Each afternoon will have a theme that members can participate in.  We’ll also have trivia & Pictionary days and other fun interactive group games.  Board games are a great way to improve social skills like communication, teamwork and confidence. Snacks will be provided each night.WINTER 2025-26 SESSION begins on December 8th!  Registration opens November 14th club does not meet on December 29th, January 19th, or February 16th  NOTE:  The program will NOT meet on Monday, December 22nd due to the building being closed for maintenance

After school Program for boys       Registration opens November 14th The Council for Boys and Young Men® is a strengths-based group approach for boys 9-18 to promote their safe and healthy development through pre-teen and adolescent years. Meets weekly on Wednesdays after-school  @ 4:00pm (transportation is not provided)  (Note: students can be dropped off at the Yellow House starting at 3:30pm and they can work on their homework, read a book, or just relax until the program begins. The program will begin when all the members have arrived.)   Winter 2026Curricula: "Growing Healthy, Growing Strong"  Boys will have fun identifying social-emotional messages, experiences, and attitudes. Competition, bullying, recognizing and expressing emotions, male and female role expectations, self confidence, and teamwork are highlighted through games and team challenges. Boys develop vocabulary and skills to expect and enact fairness, healthy competition, and respect for self and others. Spring 2026Curricula: "Standing Together: A Journey Into Respect Activity Guide"This guide provides engaging ways to address common themes which pre-teens and early adolescents encounter, including breaking down social-cultural barriers, motives and actions around put-downs, knowing their personal rights, defining assumptions about male power, respecting others'' physical boundaries, understanding and using the energy of strong emotions, and standing up for each other in community. Curricula: "Living A Legacy: A Rite of Passage Activity Guide"10-SESSION PROGRAM, Ages 14-18Young men gain skills and knowledge to navigate growing up male in today’s society through the introduction of topics and experiential activities that address a myriad of relevant challenges - safely, powerfully, and within a spirit of “council” connection. Boys will explore: relationships, conflict resolution, education, leadership, community service, diversity, mass media messages, personal values, integrity, and future goals.This FREE program is limited to 12 boys and will be held after-school at the Yellow House (554 South Main Street – Across from Cheshire High School). *Transportation is NOT provided from the schools to our facility.
