Safe@Home by Safe Sitter® is a program designed for students in grades 4-6 to prepare them to be safe and care for themselves when their parents are away for short periods of time. This is an instructor facilitated program that teaches students how to practice safe habits, how to prevent unsafe situations, and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. Students are also introduced to the Safe Sitter® First Aid Chart and learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses. Safe@Home is ideal for students that have expressed interest in assuming the responsibility of staying home alone. The program is designed to prepare students for their first steps towards independence.  (Class Fee includes a student handbook & a gift bag) . *This is not a babysitter certification course (you can register for that course through Recreation). Upcoming Courses:  Each of the upcoming courses covers the same material, please only sign up for one session.Small class sizes, 9 spots in each session. RAMS Football Game Night Pit Stop (Gr. 8 - 10)Stop by the Yellow House before the home football game with your friends, hang out, watch TV or a movie, or play video and board games. Eat pizza, and stay until the game starts. Then walk over with your friends to the game at CHS with a warm cup of hot cocoa to go!Friday Home Games9/25 vs. Notre Dame 10/30 vs. Fairfield Prep11/13 vs. Guilford5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.(Games start at CHS @ 7:00pm)Cost: FREE (includes pizza)  Pizza will be ordered at 5:45pm based on who is there at that time.* * * Please send your child with money to get into the football game.(Pizza & drinks will be served, online registration encouraged to make sure we have enough food each game) (please note: Yellow House staff will NOT be attending the game or chaperoning the kids that attend the "pit stop" - our staff will make sure they use the cross walk to get to CHS area safely. Parents are responsible for communicating with their children to make sure they are at the game as intended and to arrange an appropriate pick-up spot that is convenient for them after the game - the Yellow House will close at 8:00pm, no staff will be on site after the game). (please note: Yellow House staff will NOT be attending the game with them- we will make sure they use the cross walk to get to CHS area safely. 6:00 PM - 8:45 PM    Volunteer Opportunities (Gr. 7 - 12) - 10/2/26 Carnival Night (stations: Face painting, games, cotton candy, tattoos, etc)
  Youth Literacy Volunteer Role: Volunteers serve as positive role models and reading mentors for children in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Working one-on-one with a young reader each week, volunteers help build confidence and literacy skills by supporting reading activities, encouraging comprehension, and assisting with weekly themed worksheets and crafts, and participating in group indoor/outdoor activities. Through patience, encouragement, and engagement, volunteers help foster a love of reading and demonstrate the lifelong value of literacy. S.L.A.M.M. Volunteer Role:Science, Literacy, Art, Math & More!  Volunteers serve as teen buddies and positive role models, helping children participate in a variety of fun and educational activities. They assist with reading stories, leading creative art projects, supporting hands-on experiments, and encouraging engagement in math and science activities. Volunteers help create a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment while fostering learning, creativity, confidence, and social connections through themed experiences such as Camping Fun, Fall Adventures, Halloween, Candy Creations, Bubble Mania, and LEGO Exploration.Weekend Social Event Volunteer Role: High school volunteers help create a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for 5th-8th grade participants during weekend social events. Volunteers serve as positive role models by engaging youth in games, crafts, and group activities that encourage friendship, teamwork, and inclusion. Responsibilities include assisting with event set-up and breakdown, supporting staff with activities, and ensuring participants feel involved, supported, and engaged throughout the event. Volunteers play an important role in making each social event a positive and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
