Colored Pencil Beginner - Students will work with Prismacolor soft, wax based colored pencils to learn layering, blending, and shading techniques on professional acid-free paper. Subjects vary according to each student’s personal design to create lasting works of art. Instructor: Norma Curtis (6 weeks) Note: No class 11/27 & 11/30Colored Pencil Techniques - Learn the many techniques which can give your colored pencil artwork the look of oil paintings. You will study layering, burnishing, dissolving, lifting color, infusing color and so much more. Much emphasis will be placed on achieving proper values, arriving at the desired color and how to achieve specific effects. You will work with artist quality pencils and papers. All supplies are included. Beginners work on projects designed by the instructor and then move on to working on pieces of their own choosing. Intermediate and advanced students work independently with plenty of help and direction from the instructor. Classical Watercolor - Beginner students will work from an image provided by the instructor. Continuing students should bring a color image of their choice to work on. Students will work on sheets of quality watercolor paper, learning both “wet” and “dry” techniques. Drawing experience is preferable. Personal help is provided to each student. The class goal is for each student to produce a lovely painting in a relaxing art experience. All supplies are included, except for paper towels. Instructor: Eugene Teixeira (6 weeks)  Exploring Watercolor - Adventure continues! This class will continue to explore the many joys of painting with watercolor. Each session will include a short demo to get us warmed up and suggestions for paintings which will the span more than one class. Students may bring their own reference materials or simply choose to work from the provided ideas. Any level of experience is welcome and encouraged. Join me while we explore a variety of techniques such as wash, dry brush, masking, wet on wet, wet on dry. We will be primarily focusing on landscapes (but students are encouraged to work on anything which interests them). We will be learning color mixing and employing a variety of methods frequently used in watercolor while having fun and playing with this magical medium. Instructor: Bonny Hartigan (6 weeks) No class 11/26 Gouache and Watercolor - Did you know that watercolor and gouache can be used together? They actually play very well together. Students will discover the advantages and characteristics of the two mediums while exploring different techniques including dry brush, wet on wet, wet on dry, glazing, underpainting and blending. We will also get into color theory and composition. Class begins each week with a demo/warm up, and moves into independent work time with the instructor. Students have the option of bringing in their own reference materials or using the reference provided. Focus will be primarily on landscape and natural subjects. Learn how to design and sew embroidery stitches, adding embellishments like buttons, beans and bling.  Then sew together colorful animals and fantastical creatures. Paint Along - Using acrylic paint on canvas, students will learn foundational painting skills such as color/design, blending, creating texture and more. They will complete a finished painting in this one-day workshop. No experience necessary! Fundamentals of Drawing - In this class you will learn about basic perspective, the relationships of objects to each other, how to energize a drawing by use of light and dark dynamics, how to explore different drawing instruments to achieve various effects, how to best express volume and how to work with outlines alone. This class is for beginner and intermediate students. Instructor: Thelma Appel (6 weeks) No class 11/27   Drawing with Precision - Learn accurate, realistic drawing techniques through skill-practice exercises. Work towards acquiring an ability to draw any subject in a 3-dimensional way with focus on specific skills including learning accurate “measuring,” proportionality, perspective, shading and textures. With commitment and attendance, students can expect significant improvement, not only learning how to “fix” their work, but also leaving with the ability to plan and complete realistic drawings. The Art of Painting - In this class we will analyze the basics of organizing pictorial space to create a coherent painting. We will master painting in acrylics by learning how to mix primary colors and dilute with white to show contrast between loud and muted values. We will use still-life models and photographs and study Old Master paintings for reference. Ultimately, we will create a unique and dynamic work of art. Students will work on sheets of quality watercolor paper, learning both “wet” and “dry” techniques. Drawing experience is preferable. Personal help is provided to each student. The class goal is for each student to produce a lovely painting in a relaxing art experience. All supplies are included, except for paper towels. Instructor: Eugene Teixeira (6 weeks)  Exploring Watercolor - Adventure continues! This class will continue to explore the many joys of painting with watercolor. Each session will include a short demo to get us warmed up and suggestions for paintings which will the span more than one class. Students may bring their own reference materials or simply choose to work from the provided ideas. Any level of experience is welcome and encouraged. Join me while we explore a variety of techniques such as wash, dry brush, masking, wet on wet, wet on dry. We will be primarily focusing on landscapes (but students are encouraged to work on anything which interests them). We will be learning color mixing and employing a variety of methods frequently used in watercolor while having fun and playing with this magical medium. Homeschool Art – Comprehensive lessons and art projects will be planned for students to learn a variety of art techniques through both observation and drawing activities.  Discover drawing and multimedia, along with introduction of other medias, to increase confidence, strength, and skills. First you will learn how to design and sew embroidery stitches to create colorful projects before progressing to the machine sewing. Students will learn all about how a machine works, threading, operating, and troubleshooting. Skills begin by tracing simple lines on thick fabric to learn how to sew forward and backwards with accuracy. Projects will include small pillows, bags, stuffed animals and more. Paint Along - Using acrylic paint on canvas, students will learn foundational painting skills such as color/design, blending, creating texture and more. They will complete a finished painting in this one-day workshop. No experience necessary! Instructor: Kristy Endriss (1 day)Painting Techniques - Students will use a variety of water media, such as acrylic and watercolor paint, to create works of art based on foundational principles. Lessons will include color theory, blending, shading and texture as they paint a variety of landscapes and still-life pieces. All levels are welcome. Dress for a mess! Instructor: Kristy Endriss (5 weeks) Note: No class 11/26Watercolor Fun - Learn different techniques and create several works of art in this Instructor lead step-by-step watercolor workshop. Colored Pencil Beginner - Students will work with Prismacolor soft, wax based colored pencils to learn layering, blending, and shading techniques on professional acid-free paper. Subjects vary according to each student’s personal design to create lasting works of art. Instructor: Norma Curtis (6 weeks) Note: No class 11/27 & 11/30Colored Pencil Techniques - Learn the many techniques which can give your colored pencil artwork the look of oil paintings. You will study layering, burnishing, dissolving, lifting color, infusing color and so much more. Much emphasis will be placed on achieving proper values, arriving at the desired color and how to achieve specific effects. You will work with artist quality pencils and papers. All supplies are included. Beginners work on projects designed by the instructor and then move on to working on pieces of their own choosing. Intermediate and advanced students work independently with plenty of help and direction from the instructor. Fundamentals of Drawing - In this class you will learn about basic perspective, the relationships of objects to each other, how to energize a drawing by use of light and dark dynamics, how to explore different drawing instruments to achieve various effects, how to best express volume and how to work with outlines alone. This class is for beginner and intermediate students. Instructor: Thelma Appel (6 weeks) No class 11/27   Drawing with Precision - Learn accurate, realistic drawing techniques through skill-practice exercises. Work towards acquiring an ability to draw any subject in a 3-dimensional way with focus on specific skills including learning accurate “measuring,” proportionality, perspective, shading and textures. With commitment and attendance, students can expect significant improvement, not only learning how to “fix” their work, but also leaving with the ability to plan and complete realistic drawings. The Art of Painting - In this class we will analyze the basics of organizing pictorial space to create a coherent painting. We will master painting in acrylics by learning how to mix primary colors and dilute with white to show contrast between loud and muted values. We will use still-life models and photographs and study Old Master paintings for reference. Ultimately, we will create a unique and dynamic work of art.
