Drawing (Adults) - Drawing Drapery Beginner Drawing for Adults - This class is an opportunity to learn about drawing, observation and seeing the subject in both traditional and new ways. Different drawing concepts will be introduced and explored each week, including lines, scale, shading, texture and composition. Students will draw from a still life set-up. There will be plenty of guidance for each student from the instructor. Instructor: Mike Berlinski (5 weeks)Drawing Drapery - This workshop welcomes artists of all skill levels to the expressive, forgiving qualities of charcoal through a drapery chiaroscuro (the treatment of light and shade in drawing and painting) study. Students will explore foundational techniques in sketching and shading to build their understanding of depth, lighting and proportion. In addition to traditional reductive work, students will have the option of tones paper and white charcoal to explore a different approach to these classic methods. Instructor: Sagan Anderson (1 day)Drawing Immersion - This foundational art class is focused on transforming three-dimensional subjects into two-dimensional drawings through the precise study of light, shade, and volume. This course will emphasize observational techniques to help artists understand how light defines the shape, depth, and texture of objects. There will be a new study each class; whether or not a student completes the drawing will depend on their abilities. There is less emphasis on completing a project and more on learning a skill and how to use new knowledge and put it to action. Instructor: Janelle Chandler (5 weeks)Life Drawing - Join Tony Falcone for a life drawing class with a French Bourbonnais Soldier! The model will wear a uniform designed by Mr. Falcone for a bronze statue. Students will draw the human form from the live model, using charcoal on paper. The instructor will demonstrate his process in capturing a likeness through line, composition and value. Students will be guided on how to see and sketch from life while exploring their own style and artistic approach. The goal will be to complete a final sketch. All levels welcome, all supplies included. Instructor: Tony Falcone (1 day)Pen & Ink - Discover the expressive power and intricate detail of pen and ink. Designed for artists of all levels, from complete beginners to those looking to refine their skills, this workshop will explore a range of mark-making techniques to render rich, natural textures and create a sense of depth and form. We’ll also learn hand stitching utilizing embroidery thread and felt to create cute animals like a teddy bear, dogs and cats. Embellish with fun buttons, sequins, bling and fancy stitches. Choice of projects will include small pillows, bags, stuffed animals and more. Previous students are welcome to attend and to continue with more advanced sewing projects. Colored Pencil - Colored Pencil Colored Pencil - New students will learn blending and layering techniques required to create works of art suitable for framing. All students will use Artist quality Prismacolor wax based colored pencils and artist quality Stonehenge paper. You will study layering, burnishing, dissolving, lifting color, infusing color and so much more. All supplies are included. Beginners work on projects designed by the instructor and then move on to working on pieces of their own choosing. Join me while we explore a variety of techniques and subjects. Students will be encouraged to work on composition and values as well as color mixing and water control. In addition to traditional reductive work, students will have the option of tones paper and white charcoal to explore a different approach to these classic methods. Instructor: Sagan Anderson (1 day)Drawing Immersion - This foundational art class is focused on transforming three-dimensional subjects into two-dimensional drawings through the precise study of light, shade, and volume. This course will emphasize observational techniques to help artists understand how light defines the shape, depth, and texture of objects. There will be a new study each class; whether or not a student completes the drawing will depend on their abilities. There is less emphasis on completing a project and more on learning a skill and how to use new knowledge and put it to action. Instructor: Janelle Chandler (5 weeks)Life Drawing - Join Tony Falcone for a life drawing class with a French Bourbonnais Soldier! The model will wear a uniform designed by Mr. Falcone for a bronze statue. Students will draw the human form from the live model, using charcoal on paper. The instructor will demonstrate his process in capturing a likeness through line, composition and value. Students will be guided on how to see and sketch from life while exploring their own style and artistic approach. The goal will be to complete a final sketch. Each week will include a short demo to get us warmed up and instructor suggestions for paintings which may span more than one class. Students may bring their own reference or simply choose to work from the provided ideas. Whether you are new to this medium or just want to dedicate time during your week to practice and improve your skill, this class offers something for you. Join me while we explore a variety of techniques and subjects. Students will be encouraged to work on composition and values as well as color mixing and water control. We will mainly focus on landscapes but this will vary depending upon class input and interests. So come and join us for a bit of escape, fun and play with this magical medium. Cartooning (Kids) - Cartoon Your Favorite Character! Cartoon Your Favorite Character! - In this fun, follow-along class, kids will learn to draw their favorite cartoon characters step-by-step. Then, they’ll use their new skills to imagine and create their very own original cartoon characters. It’s a great way to build confidence, creativity and cartooning know-how. We’ll also learn hand stitching utilizing embroidery thread and felt to create cute animals like a teddy bear, dogs and cats. Embellish with fun buttons, sequins, bling and fancy stitches. Choice of projects will include small pillows, bags, stuffed animals and more. Previous students are welcome to attend and to continue with more advanced sewing projects. It originated in China and is enjoying a resurgence in popularity with players around the state.
