Quilling - Quilling is an art form that uses narrow strips of paper. The paper is coiled around a quilling tool in different ways to create shapes, textures, designs, and images. The quilled paper strips are glued onto a surface or to each other to make cards, picture frames, wall hangings, jewelry and much more! In this introduction to quilling workshop, you will create a card with leaves. The leaves may be seasonal or whimsical or whatever you want them to be! Bring a willingness to learn. There will be plenty of guidance for each student from the instructor. This class is for beginner to intermediate students. (5 weeks) No Class: 11/27Expressive Drawing - Explore drawing as a tool for personal expression rather than observation. Through guided prompts, participants will use memory, sensation, movement, and imagination as starting points for creating expressive images. Working with charcoal and mixed media, students will experiment with mark-making, shape, value, and composition to develop drawings that communicate mood, energy, and experience. Open to all skill levels. Instructor: Kate Henderson (5 weeks)Life Drawing - Join Tony Falcone for a life drawing workshop in continuing the 250th celebration of the United States. The model will wear a lovely Colonial outfit. Students will draw the human form from the live model, using charcoal on paper. The instructor will demonstrate his process in capturing a likeness through line, composition and value. Students will be guided on how to see and sketch from life while exploring their own style and artistic approach. The goal will be to complete a final sketch. Think outside the box and let your creativity flow. Whether you keep or give it as a gift, your projects will be unique and colorful. Instructor: Robin McCahill (5 weeks) Needle Felt a Bird - Students will enjoy creating a three-dimensional bird from colorful wool. Come refine your skills and learn the technique of dry-felting with a special barbed needle. Instruction will include blending colors, designing wings and adding some finishing details. If you already have some experience with oils, join this fun class and increase your knowledge of techniques and delve deeper into the theory of color. Instructor: Rita Paradis (6 weeks) Atmospheric Landscape - Let your memory and imagination inspire you as you create beautiful landscapes. Will graciously shares the techniques which allow him to paint from his imagination and memories.
