Animal Pillow Cover - Using projectors or light boxes, trace an image to easily make a hand painted pillow cover. You may select a choice of templates (cat, dog, fox, buffalo, ram, owls, rabbit, etc.) or provide your own design. We’ll supply the 18” square cotton zippered cover (pillow insert is not provided.) You will finish the pillow cover with Jacquard Dye-Na-Flow fabric paints, which are soft and pliable when dry, and markers. Bring a bag lunch. Instructor: Robin McCahill (1 day)Friday Felting - Wool is a timeless medium. Come learn to use a special barbed needle to create dry-felted artwork. New techniques and skills will be built upon each time the workshop is repeated. Projects suggestions may include colorful two-dimensional tapestries, three-dimensional animals, trivets, mug rugs, miniatures, game pieces and greeting cards! No experience is necessary. First Friday Art Games - Take a break after your work week and meet up with other adults the first Friday of each month to play art games that will boost your drawing skills and increase your creativity in a fun, low-pressure, party-like atmosphere. Art games can be the start of getting into a creative routine and being playful can be a boon to getting out of a creative rut. Painting Techniques - Students will use a variety of water media, such as acrylic and watercolor paint, to create works of art based on foundational principles. Lessons will include color theory, blending, shading and texture as they paint a variety of landscapes and still-life pieces. All levels are welcome. Dress for a mess! Instructor: Kristy Endriss (5 weeks)Under-the-Sea Painting - Students will create fun paintings with tempera paint and watercolor. They  will learn different foundational techniques, such as underpainting and speckling to create texture in a series of paintings. Exploring Watercolor -  This class explores the many joys and challenges of painting with watercolor. Each week will include a short demo to get us warmed up and instructor suggestions for paintings which may span more than one class. Students may bring their own reference or simply choose to work from the provided ideas. Whether you are new to this medium or just want to dedicate time during your week to practice and improve your skill, this class offers something for you. Join me while we explore a variety of techniques and subjects. Students will be encouraged to work on composition and values as well as color mixing and water control. We will mainly focus on landscapes, but this will vary depending upon class input and interests. So come and join us for a bit of escape, fun and play with this magical medium. Instructor: Bonny Hartigan (6 weeks)Focus and Highlights - Learn to use mixed media to create a floral image with a bee. Show some elements in sharp focus in the foreground and other elements blurred in the background. Use watercolor, colored pencil and pen to great effect on watercolor paper. Discover some new techniques that you can apply to your other work. All supplies, along with a frame and mat, are included. Instructor: Agnes Wnuk (1 day)Line, Wash and a Bit of Gouache - Have you ever wondered about using other mediums with your watercolors? This class will explore some options while using fine line pens and some gouache to add to your watercolor, which creates a whole new look from traditional transparent watercolor. Summer is a fine time to experiment, relax and play while creating your artwork. Instruction is based on instructor demonstration along with student practice. We will use all three mediums in varying degrees while creating images inspired by the natural world around us. (we may even add a bit of colored pencil) Beginners and experienced painters are welcome. Art & Storytime – Students will listen to stories by award-winning authors and illustrators and create artwork based on their unique style, during these two-day workshops. Puppet Palooza – Get ready for a week of creativity and imagination. Kids will craft their own spoon, bag, sock and other fun puppets, bringing characters to life with unique personalities. They’ll also build props and colorful backdrops to set the stage for original puppet shows. It’s perfect for young storytellers and artists to explore, create and perform. Homeschool Sewing - Sewing is a fantastic skill!  First learn how to design and sew embroidery stitches to create colorful projects before progressing to machine sewing.  Students will learn about how a machine works, threading, operating, and troubleshooting. Skills begin by tracing simple lines on thick fabric to learn how to sew forward and backwards with accuracy. Projects will include small pillows, bags, stuffed animals and more. Instructor: Christine Jewell (5 weeks) No class 5/14Sew Easy - Yes, kids can safely sew on a machine! Kids will learn all about how a machine works, threading, operating and troubleshooting. Begin by machine sewing by tracing simple lines on thick fabric, learning how to sew forward and backwards. We’ll also learn hand stitching utilizing embroidery thread and soft felt to create cute animals like a teddy bear, dogs and cats. Embellish with fun buttons, sequins, fancy stitches and bling! Projects will include pin cushions, small pillows, LOTS of stuffed animals, bags and more. You’ll be speeding along in no time! Instructor: Christine Jewell (5 weeks) No class 5/14Sewing Bonanza! - This camp is for beginners as well as previous students. We’ll have more time to build our skills with lots of choices for sewing by hand and on the machine. Use felt to sew colorful animals and fun shapes decorated with buttons and stitches. Learn how to use and design your own patterns. The Graphic Novel - Calling all young storytellers and artists – this is your chance to become a graphic novelist. Kids will design their own main character, dream up an exciting story and bring it to life with drawings and words. Each student will create colorful cover art, write a short narrative and complete one fully-illustrated interior page, just like a real graphic novel. This class is perfect for kids who love comics, graphic novels and creative writing. No experience needed, just imagination and a love for stories. Instructor: Megan Jeffery (5 days)

Button Up!Learn how to sew buttonholes using a sewing machine and attach buttons. This technique can be used for sewing clothing and other items.
